SUSAN MCFARLAND

 

Susan McFarland joined AlphaMet Metallurgical & Welding

Engineers, a division of Anderson Associates Consulting Engineers

Inc., early in 1995 and became a principal with Anderson Associates in

2000. Her broad work background makes her a valuable addition to

the AlphaMet/Anderson Associates' team. Susan investigated numerous helicopter, airplane, and air traffic service accident/incidents during her time with the TSB.

 

Prior to joining the transportation Safety Board, Susan flew helicopters, both VFR and IFR, commercially in Western Canada and Ontario. As a commercial helicopter pilot, she was endorsed on a number of piston, turbine-powered and multi-engine helicopter types as well as holding a Class 1, instrument rating and a single engine commercial airplane license.

 

At AlphaMet/Anderson Associates, Susan is actively engaged in material failure analyses, corrosion analyses, establishing quality assurance procedures, welding engineering, industrial incident investigations, forensic engineering and fire investigations. Susan has also appeared as an expert witness in the areas of metallurgy and failure analysis.
